Hack Pompey Online has its own notice
Our online event runs on its own site, online.hackpompey.co.uk. Your account, your team, what you submit, your vote and any report you make all live there. That site has its own privacy notice, which covers all of it. Read it at online.hackpompey.co.uk/privacy.
This page covers this website and everything else.
This website
This website collects nothing
hackpompey.co.uk has no forms, no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. GitHub hosts it and Cloudflare runs the domain name, so they see your IP address when you load a page, as any web host does.
Links to Eventbrite, Google Forms or our Discord take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
What we have
What we have, and why
We keep what we collect for five years, unless a section below says otherwise. You can ask us to delete yours sooner at any time.
Tickets for in-person events
We sell tickets through Eventbrite, which passes us your name, email address and answers to the booking questions. We use them to run the event, such as knowing who is coming and what to feed you. Legal reason: you booked, and we need them to run the event.
Some booking questions help us reach the right people for future events. Legal reason: legitimate interests.
Project submissions
When you submit a project, we collect your name, email address, social media handles and details of the project. We use them to judge and present the projects, and in what we send and publish after the event. Legal reason: you entered, and we need them to run the event.
Voting
Our voting app holds the project names and the votes. Each device gets a random ID so it can only vote once. It does not collect names, email addresses or IP addresses. Legal reason: legitimate interests.
Our Discord server
Organisers can see what you post in our server, and can remove messages and members. We use it to answer questions, share news and moderate. Legal reason: legitimate interests. Your messages stay until you, we or Discord delete them.
Emails
If you email [email protected] or [email protected], we keep your address and message so we can reply. Google Workspace hosts our email, and the organisers read it. Legal reason: legitimate interests.
Event emails
We send news about our events, and promotional emails, through Eventbrite. Promotional emails are opt-in: you only get them if you said yes when you booked. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us to be taken off.
Photos at in-person events
We take photos at our events and post some on this website, Instagram, Facebook and shared Google Photos and Drive albums. Legal reason: legitimate interests. Published photos stay up until you ask us to take them down.
If you do not want to be photographed, pick the wristband or lanyard that says so when you arrive, or tell an organiser. To have a photo of you taken down, email [email protected]. You do not need to give a reason, and a parent or carer can ask for anybody under 18.
Names and links on past event pages
Our write-ups of past events name the winners, the teams and the people who helped, and some link to their GitHub, LinkedIn or projects. Legal reason: legitimate interests. They stay up until you ask us to change or remove them.
